These are purfic for when you're in a rush and just need a quick pick-me-up. Full of protein, omega-3 fatty acids, monounsatured fats, Vit. E, copper, manganese, magnesium and zinc, Granola bars form an ideal part of a healthy, well balanced diet....just don't eat the entire batch! (if anyone does, do let me know what happens!)
INGREDIENTS: (makes about 16)
8oz Porridge oats (jumbo or rolled..or both)
4oz Light brown sugar
2oz Flaked almonds
6oz Raisins
2oz Sesame seeds
2oz Linseeds
2oz Pumpkin seeds
4oz Sunflower seeds
4oz Melted butter
3tbsp Honey
Personally, I like to make sure these are slightly burnt round the edges to give a real caramalised flavour...your taste buds may disagree though so keep a watch!
*At tip here is to use a rolling pin when you take them out to squish the mixture right down again. Leave to cool for 10mins, then cut them roughly, then leave to cool on a rack for however long they take to cool. They can be quite crumbly so dont waste - gather up the crumbs, put in a bag or pot and sprinkle over yoghurt or porridge!
